Editorial standards
Our commitments on independence, guests, sponsors, sources, corrections and privacy.
This document sets out Fuse's commitment to its audience: transparency, openness to criticism and a willingness to correct mistakes, rather than a claim to be infallible.
Editorial independence
Fuse controls its topics, guests, questions and the direction of its conversations. Financial support or personal relationships must not determine editorial decisions.
Guests do not pay to appear
Fuse does not accept payment for invitations or guest appearances. Invitations are based on the value of a guest's experience, knowledge or perspective to the audience.
Sponsorship is separate from content
Commercial partnerships are clearly identified. Sponsors have no right to remove questions, select guests or change editorial positions.
Conversation is not necessarily agreement
The host is not obliged to provide an unchallenged platform for a guest's views. Claims, arguments and contradictions may be criticised directly.
Sources and context
For research-led subjects, we seek to include primary sources, documents and historical context on the episode page. We distinguish facts, interpretations and personal opinions.
Correcting mistakes
When an episode or article contains a demonstrable error, a correction and supporting source are recorded on that content's page.
Sensitive subjects
Where possible, clear content notices accompany violence, suicide, abuse or sensitive imagery. Sensitivity is not a reason to eliminate discussion.
Audience privacy
Audience messages are not published without permission. Contact details are used only to review and respond to that correspondence.
Conflicts of interest
Relevant financial or personal relationships that could affect an audience's judgement should be disclosed to a reasonable extent.
