Amirreza Poursaifi
Amirreza Poursaifi is a comedian and critical-content creator. He holds a diploma in cinema and studied philosophy at university, two backgrounds reflected in his narrative, argumentative and caricatural approach to social and political issues.
Poursaifi sees comedy as a way to question established beliefs, rather than a substitute for academic education or specialist research. Much of his work uses dark humour to examine superstition, contradictions in public discourse, the behaviour of people in power, and polarisation in the media.
In FUSE 61, he discusses the ethical boundaries of humour, the difference between criticising a belief and degrading a person, comedians' responsibility for mistakes, freedom of expression, and peaceful coexistence with people who hold different views.
